- meet in Siracusa around 9.30 am and walk through Ortigia’s fabulous market to get a sandwich and some fruit
- walk along an ancient narrow-gauge railway, which became famous in 1933 when King Vittorio Emanuele 3rd travelled to Pantalica station and then proceeded to visit the Necropolis on mule back
- admire the breathtaking view from the frescoed Byzantine church of San Nicolicchio
- imagine the majestic size of the Prince’s Palace (Anaktoron) located on the plateau, with a 360° view
- have a picnic (included) by a pond or next to the Palace
- walk through more than 2,000 rock-cut tombs dating back to 13th/9th century b.C. covering the façades of the river canyon
- indulge in an optional swim in a crystal-clear, freezing-cold Calcinara River
You may either want to go back to Siracusa for a walk through town and a granita…or, for an additional fee:
– stop along the way to visit a local winery in the countryside surrounding Siracusa, or
– visit a local farm
