MINDFUL PREGNANCY
A Mindful Path for Expecting Parents
Expecting a baby is one of the most meaningful moments in a woman’s – but also in a couple’s – life. It is often not experienced with the full awareness of what is happening and what is going to happen, and is characterized by more stress than we’d like to admit.
Mindfulness can be of great support is raising awareness of what is going on and what is going to happen during and after the pregnancy – to our bodies and our emotions alike. But also to our relations, starting with the one with our partner – if we have one – and our friends and colleagues. And also, last but not least, to our child: very often we tend to automatically apply the behaviours we are familiar with, without allowing us the time and space to determine whether they are the most useful and caring ones.
This is why, after talking to several professionals – such as gynaecologists, nutritionists, therapists, couple coaches and education experts, we have designed a course that draws on specific Mindfulness practices covered in the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) Protocol – attention to the body, thoughts, emotions – complemented with hypnobirthing* exercises, reflection on stress reactions, patterns and advice to help future parents face this beautiful challenge in the best way possible. There are opportunities to share one’s experiences and ask questions, to become part of a community for ongoing connection and support.
Please note that this is intended as a complementary form of support and does not represent nor replace medical advice.
